Parent ACTION goals:
- Developing parent leadership through a gradual process with relevant technical assistance.
- Promoting awareness on parent-child interactions and child development.
- Building community with parent-led efforts.
Grantees design their own proposals. Once approved, parents will implement their activities according to the proposed plan with technical assistance.
Sample projects include:
- Retreat for couples with counseling sessions
- Building and maintaining a community garden
- Creating a book award for children's books that represent LGBT families
- Parent education workshops
- Family activities and fieldtrips
- Spanish music classes at community centers
- Assisting families with Kindergarten transition
- Support groups for parents/caregivers
