First 5 California is offering all new and expecting parents in California a FREE kit that contains parenting information, advice and useful tips first-time parents need to best prepare for the joys and challenges that lie ahead.

Survival Guide
The Survival Guide was a volunteer effort by members of the San Francisco Children and Families Commission's Civic Engagement Committee which was made up diverse groups of San Francisco parents. This guide was created to help parents and community members raise young children in the City.

Community Information
SAND
San Francisco SAND (Support After Neonatal Death) is a support group for
parents who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, death during or after birth, or termination for genetic reasons. This group is about parents helping other parents. Licensed Clinical Social Workers, are available to lend professional support.
SAND meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 6:30 to
8:30 pm. All parents are welcome and do not need to call before attending.
There is no fee. SAND meets at the UCSF Women's Health Building, 2356 Sutter
Street, at Mt. Zion Campus, between Divisadero and Scott Streets, two
blocks north of Geary Blvd. There is street parking available. Contributions provide 100% of the funding needed to operate this valuable resource for grieving parents. Donations to San Francisco SAND in any amount are greatly appreciated.
