We Can Help
If you're a non-profit organization, public agency or community group, we invite you to submit a proposal for funding. We invest in both citywide and neighborhood efforts, as well as programs that serve a specific community (such as homeless families, children living with their grandparents, LGBT families, children with special needs or children who do not speak English at home).
Please keep in mind that we generally only accept applications in response to our periodically announced funding opportunities, called Requests for Proposals (RFPs). However, we may review community generated proposals during the year.
If you'd like to be notified when future RFPs become available, email us and tell us how we can reach you. You can also look over past Requests for Proposals to see how we've connected with groups to support their essential work.
Emergency Fund Policy
In this period of fiscal uncertainty at the state and local level, we recognize that some agencies may be experiencing reductions in funding. To address this issue, First 5 San Francisco has established a Pilot Emergency Fund Policy to help mitigate these cuts for our grantees. This policy seeks to ensure stable staffing for programs currently funded by First 5 San Francisco.
The Emergency Fund applies to agencies that have been notified of a reduction of state or local funds that were anticipated for fiscal year 2008-2009. To qualify to apply for the Emergency Fund, the funding reductions must impact staff positions with direct service responsibilities for services that are currently funded by First 5 San Francisco.
You can download the application for more information.
