Calling All Four-Year-Olds
All children who will be four years of age on or before December 2, 2007 and live in San Francisco are now eligible for Preschool for All. Please keep in mind that this program is not designed for children who are old enough for kindergarten, but we make exceptions for children with special needs.
Welcome to Free Preschool
Regardless of family income, there is no cost for any child to attend a PFA preschool. Children of every socioeconomic background are encouraged to participate.

Individual preschools choose their own schedule: either 2.5 hours per day for 245 days a year, or 3.5 hours per day for 175 days a year. Full-day and full-year programs may be available through participating preschools for a fee.
Making Great Preschools Better
Participating preschools are licensed, insured and safe, employ qualified teachers and welcome children of all backgrounds and needs. Not only is our program free and voluntary for all families, but it helps preschools enhance their teachers' training and compensation, improve their facilities, enrich their learning plans and involve you in your child's education. Starting Strong
Participating PFA preschools will provide your child the chance to experience literacy, art, science, movement and music in small classes with no more than 24 children each. Preschool for All requires at least one teacher for every eight children (so, a class may have more than three teachers), all of whom are highly trained, fairly paid and supported in the growth of their careers. Your child's teacher will help you understand behavioral issues, how your child might best learn, and how to get the most out of preschool. We value and respect your child's family structure, cultural background, home language and customs. And we will regularly check in with our partner preschools to ensure they're meeting our high expectations.
