Drop-In Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 6 pm

Good Samaritan provides a comprehensive range of early childhood development, youth development, and family strengthening services. Programs are primarily focused on supporting Spanish-speaking immigrant families who live, work, or go to school in the Mission District. All services are available in Spanish.

Parenting Advice and Skill Building Workshops to support parent and child bonding – infants and babies
  • Playgroups – For infants and babies and their parents/caregivers
  • Exploremos Juntos – Focused on the development of healthy parent-child attachment (Spanish)
  • Creciendo con Libros – Focused on the development of language and literacy (Spanish)
Parenting Advice and Skill Building Workshops to support parent and child bonding – toddlers and preschoolers
  • Playgroups – For toddlers and preschoolers and their parents/caregivers 
  • Exploremos Juntos – Focused on activities that promote social-emotional development and early learning (Spanish)
  • Creciendo con Libros – Focused on early literacy and promoting the love of reading within the entire family (Spanish)
Parenting Advice and Skill Building Parent education – babies, toddlers, school age kids, and teens
  • Crianza con Cariño – Classes for parents of children 0-5 focusing on early childhood development and nurturing parenting skills (Spanish)
  • CANAS – Classes for parents of adolescents ages 10-17 focusing on adolescent development and effective parenting skills  (Spanish)

  • Horas Felices – Group for Spanish speaking mothers focusing on breaking isolation and promoting psychological wellbeing (Spanish)
  • Closed support groups – 10-week groups focused on topics requested by parents (Spanish)

Parenting Advice and Skill Building Developmental screening Receive consultation from our Child Development Specialist and/or Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant with ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire, ages 1 month- 5.5 yrs. old) to better understand your child’s developmental milestones and ways you can help support your children or address any concerns. By appointment
Formal Supports Family advocacy/case management Families receive focused guidance and coaching to achieve goals related to parenting, family relationships, obtaining benefits/supports, employment, and health. By appointment
Other Leveraged Services Preschool
  • Good Samaritan Child Development Center – Preschool for ages 3-5 (Spanish and English)
  • Kids’ Club – School-readiness program for toddlers whose parents are participating in long-term on-site services
