Western Addition Family Resource Center (WAFRC) has been serving families in the Western Addition neighborhood since 2007. Our comprehensive services are geared to be responsive and flexible enough to address each family’s unique and individual needs. We work collaboratively with families to create service plans that empower and support families to strengthen social, emotional and physical well-being.

The WAFRC hosts monthly family/community events such as Dinner & A Movie. During this event, parents and their children are able to connect, meet other families and create long lasting memories as they enjoy movies and meals together.

Parenting Advice and Skill Building

Infants and babies playgroup

WAFRC offers parent and infant/child groups for parents and infants (0-18 months). The Parent Infant group focuses on strengthening parents’ knowledge, skills and capacity to increase literacy, parent-child emotional bonding and social emotional skills of the child, while encouraging healthy child development. (Spanish and English)

Developmental screening

WAFRC offers the Age & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) for families with children ages 0-5 ½.  This questionnaire assesses the developmental performance of children in the areas of communication, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, problem solving and personal social skills. (English and Spanish)

By referral

Formal Supports

Family advocacy/case management

Families can either be referred for case management services or receive them as a walk-in client. Our case management team is bilingual (English and Spanish). If there are clients who are in need of services, but speak any language other than English or Spanish, the WAFRC case management team will work diligently to connect the family with someone who can translate their language.
